Autumn Term 2024

We have had a fantastic day visiting The Great North Museum to learn all about the hidden lives of women in Ancient Greece.

Did you know that girls in Ancient Greece weren’t allowed to go to school? They had to stay at home and learn how to cook, clean and make clothes, we thought this was very unfair and we all agreed we were happy that things had changed!
In P.E we have been learning how to develop our cricket skills.  We have been practicing our throwing accuracy and our batting skills.
We have started work on our Edible Playground bed by weeding and harvesting. Look at the difference in our bed in the before and after pictures! We are now all set to plant out our winter kale.
We love reading in year 4, so we visited the local library to choose books to read for pleasure.  We really enjoyed the huge selection of books we had to choose from.
Year 3 and 4 held an assembly today where they invited parents to watch them perform poetry. The children were so confident, spoke clearly and performed their actions perfectly. We are very proud of the hard work they have put into writing, learning and performing their poetry.
We had a visit from Nicola from Tyne and Wear fire service in class today. She helped us recognise fire hazards in our home and also ways we can keep ourselves safe.
The children have been given some home work, they will be checking their homes for fire hazards and asking you to test any smoke alarms - so be ready to make some small changes to keep your family safe.
P.E
in our P.E this half term we are concentrating on our skills in gymnastics and we are also taking part in some outdoor adventurous activities that involve teamwork and problem solving.
The Dog’s Trust visited us today to help us learn how to be safe around dogs.  We learnt the ABC’s of being a dogs best friend.
A - show affection in ways dogs understand
B - when dogs are busy give them space
C - give dogs choice in every interaction
In science we have beenlearning about the different types of teeth we have. After learning their names and functions we then used mirrors to see which teeth we had and which had fallen out.
We loved show and tell for no pens day!
In computing we have started coding, our first step was to build our robot vehicles. It was tricky, but we made a great start.  We can’t wait to start programming!
Our Glow project culminated in a premier of the film we made with Jonluke. We went to the Tyneside Cinema to watch it with our parents. It was amazing to see all of our art work displayed. The children worked so hard on this project and it was lovely to see them beaming with pride ☺️
